Program Requirements
Students must be employed as an Apprentice Electrician and have or be in the process of obtaining an Apprentice Electrician License from the Utah Division of Public Licensure (DOPL). Students should be prepared to show their license or application for their license the first week of class. For more information on licenses please contact https://dopl.utah.gov or call 801-530-6628.
Students that are not employed as an Apprentice Electrician and don’t have a license from DOPL may enroll in the Electrical Trades Preparation program. See Electrical Trades Preparation webpage for more details.
Electrician Apprentices are not required to register with the U.S. Department of Labor, Office of Apprenticeship (OA). However, a certificate from the OA is recognized nationally and internationally. All government contracts are required to have a percentage of registered apprentices working on the job. As soon as a person is employed as an Electrical Apprentice, your employer may contact the Office of Apprenticeship to register you as an apprentice with the US Department of Labor.
